What if I have a family history of obesity or diabetes or heart disease?

So for women, this is a multi-faceted answer that actually involves more questions. For women, that means a waist measurement that’s 35 inches or greater and for men 40 inches or greater. It is also great to ask these questions:

  •  “Do you crave sugar and/or refined carbohydrates?”
  •  “Has your doctor told you that your blood sugar’s a little high?”
  •  “Do you have high levels of triglycerides over 100 or a low HDL?”
  •  “Do you have heart disease?”
  •  “Do you have high blood pressure?”
  •  “Are you an inactive - less than 30 minutes of exercise four times a week?”
  •  “Do you have trouble losing weight on a low fat diet?”
  •  “Do you suffer from low sex drive and infertility or any sexual issues?”
  •  “Did you have gestational diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome?”

These questions should be discussed with your doctor.
